Daniel Blum, Senior Vice President and Group Research Director with Burton Group begins the Catalyst 2005 conference's discussion of IT security issues. Blum explains that security has to be an integrated aspect of enterprise - reaction is not sufficient in today's climate of risk and compliance issues.
Blum points out that security is subordinate to business needs, but a real assessment of threats need to be done in order to manage risk. He also reminds listeners to take a realistic view of security - the risk of an insider subverting processes is more likely than a hack attack. This talk provides an overview of security issues facing enterprise today.
