There is no such thing as a mobile Internet -- there is just the same Internet for everyone -- no matter how you access it. Nokia has worked to bring proven internet business models to the pockets of the world. Tero Ojanperä, the company's CTO, reviews how the technology is in place to increase the penetration of the internet business from the PC scale (millions) to mobile scale (billions).

Internet business models around many consumer internet services are well established. Customer loyalty is strong due to existing communities. However, as more and more internet services are extended to mobile devices, the increase in richness can turn into unnecessary complexity. Tero discusses how it is important to develop ways to simplify the usage of Internet on mobile to provide services with a consistent, compelling, and familiar user interface that allow rich application interplay.

Tero Ojanperä is executive vice president and chief technology officer of Nokia. Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications, expanding mobility into new areas such as imaging, games, entertainment, media, and enterprises. Ojanperä is responsible for corporate and technology strategy, strategic alliances and partnerships, research, standardization, intellectual property rights, venturing, S60 SW platform sales and marketing, Forum Nokia developer support activities, and business infrastructure.

Before being appointed to his current role, Ojanperä held the position of chief strategy officer and was head of the Nokia Research Center (NRC), from 2002-2004.

Ojanperä has played a defining role in the research and development work of Nokia’s business groups since joining the company in 1990. Throughout his career he has consistently shown an ability to balance the strong elements of his scientific background with Nokia’s broader business strategies.
